Finished my second NaPoWriMo month challenge and it's the first one I managed to finish on time. Here are the 30 poems that I completed this month:
Thanks to everyone who left a comment and who enjoyed reading my poems. It was quite the challenge, but I enjoyed doing it. I'm hoping to try my hand at NaPoWriMo again next year.
Thanks for reading!
Drink soda pop in front of him.
Refuse to sit still and fidget a lot while he's using you as a test subject and/or sample donor.
Tell him he dresses like a dork/nerd.
Bite him while he's flossing your teeth.
Don't do the tutoring assignment he gave you.
Call him boring.
Touch his experiments with your bare hands.
Yank his necktie.
Call him "mom" when he's giving one of his lectures on why things like soda pop and video games are bad and why studying is good.
Tell him that arts are better than sciences.
Accuse him of trying to be a teacher's pet.
Make loud noises or be generally disruptive while he's playing chess.
I was inspired to create this list after coming across the above piece featured here. I thought it was a fun little way to show a bit more of Christopher and some of the things that get his goat. At first I tried coming up with ten, then was able to come up with a couple more after that. I would have put "say that you hate science" or "say that science sucks," but that would fall under "ways to enrage Christopher Basil," not under annoyances. I also thought of "ask if he has any real friends," but I think that would more likely upset him than annoy him.
Give it a try if you think it seems interesting or fun. It would be nice to see what annoys other characters as well. I'm not tagging anyone as I don't do that kind of thing, plus at this point I think it's kind of passé. If you do do it, share your version here because I'm interested in seeing your characters' annoyances as well. There's no set number. I just came up with this number myself, so it can be few, it can be many. Just whatever would cause your characters to get irritated and frustrated.
Do you think I should do these things as journals or as submissions?
So I've been playing around with my profile and trying to figure out how things work in this new format. In some aspects, it's okay, in others, I'm not too happy. One thing I'm having trouble figuring out is how to properly submit to Scraps. I see the Scraps check box in the submission section, but do I also submit to featured or do I uncheck all other folders? I tried looking for information on this but couldn't find anything on this exact issue. Anyone else know? I've been thinking of submitting character image references since they don't seem to work in their profiles anymore.
Also, I have a few unfinished pieces in the works and have been having a problem deciding which one I wanted to tackle first and then go in what order. Here's a list of things I'd like to get done or maybe continue with.
- First chapter of my David story where his family is arriving to the city of supernatural beings.
- Third (for now) chapter of my David story where Vincent starts conducting observations and experiments on him in the school science lab as part of the vampire's study on humans.
- Short story about how my character Christopher is dealing with being stuck at home during the COVID-19 quarantine.
- Short story of my character Christopher working in the school science lab and who has grabbed a fellow student to use as a very reluctant sample source and test subject.
- The Tutor story about the main character requiring a tutor for math and science and winds up asking William Vanderhausen to be it, resulting in the main character discovering William's...eccentricities.
- A few poems I've left unfinished for a while and have been meaning to complete including one about killing in style and another about humanity's want to be immortal through works.
- Also have been thinking of blowing the dust off my Black Butler fan fiction where Sebastian is Ciel's dentist, though I haven't kept up with that series for a while and I know that there have been major changes (though Alois and Claude feature in this story, so it's already off from the main canon).
- I've also been working on some more character profiles.
I have other ideas as well, but these are the ones that I've started for now. The problem is that I keep getting new ideas but never take the time to jot them down, so I wanted to at least get a few of them finished. Any of these you think I should finish first or should I just tackle which ever one I feel like at the time.
Thanks for reading.
