After several months of intending to, I have finally set up my home office. Hopefully this will help break me Of some of my bad habits, Such as staying up way too late. If I keep my computer out of my bedroom And just use that room to sleep in, As well as for a bit of gaming or reading, Maybe I can finally get myself on a better schedule. Here’s hoping. It’s so easy to fall back into bad habits. I know from experience. I have plenty of it.

I sing in church Although I have no faith. You ask me why I do so, I say I do it for the music. I sing love songs Even though I have no special someone in mind. Why would I do this? I say I do it for the music. Yes, I do it for the music. What other reason do I need? It is the music itself I am dedicated to And nothing else. When I play that tune Or sing that song, It is the melody that I find enjoyment in And that is all that matters to me.

Soft and smooth fabric sewn Into a piece of dressy apparel. Looking like an elegant gentleman and Killing it with style. Showing off a dapper look and Having everyone see the fancy attire. It feels so nice against the skin and Really gives off an air of stylishness and class. This is the purpose of a silk shirt.

I had planned on doing stuff today, Some of it needs to get done very soon While there is other stuff I should have already finished a while ago. But the sun has set, And I didn’t do any of it. Heck, I didn’t even work on any of my poems today. So, I felt like I should at least write this one As I have fallen a few days behind in my NaPoWriMo challenge. I need to make myself be more productive And stop being so lazy.

Life is full of pressure, Whether it comes to jobs, family, finances, or life events. Some people can handle it, others cannot, Which is why some people suffer mental breakdowns And a few of them even wind up taking their own lives. It is unfortunate, but sometimes it happens. In recent years, it feels like there’s more pressure than ever before, At least in recent times. People always seem to be underqualified or overqualified for jobs. Even basic ones seem to want years of experience, But not too much. You don’t want to be too good at what you are doing. The cost of housing and basic necessities like food have become unaffordable, Especially for those working low-salary jobs. Many people now are evicted from their residences And forced to live in tents with other people in the same situation, At least until the police come to shoo them away. It kind of makes you wonder if anything is worth it anymore, Especially when one is constantly being bombarded With news of all the terrible

Sometimes I wonder If social media is a gift Or a curse. People are spending hours staring at the screens On their phones or computers While having all this information shoved in their face That is organized in a way to make them keep scrolling. Quantity over quality is the name of the game. Who cares how accurate the information is? We are all slaves to the algorithm. Political commentary channels Farming outrage for clicks, Turning people against one another For that sweet ad revenue. News sources constantly bombarding people With all the terrible events going on in the world. All this negative media is really overwhelming. It eventually numbs you to everything And that is what they want. They want you to be numb as you mindlessly scroll While you continue wasting hours of your life Reacting to things beyond your control And feeling powerless to change any of it. I hate to sound like a crazy old man, But I do wonder if social media is starting to turn people into zombies. People

A grey fog rolls in, Bringing a gloomy wetness. No sunshine today.

It is the springtime And a small bulb will soon grow into a beautiful flower, Full of colour and sweet scents. The beautiful flower will happily absorb sunlight and water As it sits in the garden over the next several months. Eventually the flower will wither and die come late autumn. But then, next spring, The small bulb will grow into a beautiful flower once more.

There was a solar eclipse today. Many people travelled a long distance just to see it, As only in certain areas did the moon completely cover the sun. I was not in such a place, Though the sunlight did shine quite oddly during a certain period of the day. My sister had brought home a pair of special glasses That let you look up directly where the sun was. They had some available where she worked. I am glad that she did, as a person would not have noticed That the eclipse was happening unless they looked up at the sun while wearing those glasses. That just goes to show just how powerful sunlight is, Even when there’s just a small sliver of it. When looking through the glasses, I could see the sun like a crescent behind the moon. From time to time, I would take a look. I noticed the moon was travelling upwards As the crescent changed position. Eventually the moon passed And the sunlight went back to normal, But it was fun to view the eclipse while it lasted.

When one is knocked down It is so easy to just remain lying in that spot. However, one may not be aware Of just how much of a mental tole that might wind up taking. At first it seems fine, But you find yourself slowly sinking into the ground. Eventually, you may feel like you are stuck in that spot And you won’t be able to move. I have been in that place before, And I have found myself knocked down again. But this time I cannot allow myself to just lay there. I know what will happen if I do And I cannot go back to doing that again. So, I must get a move on with my life. I need to sit down and figure out where I am going And what I am doing. Although it is much more tempting to be lazy and just lie down, That is not something that I can afford, Both financially and mentally. I must keep on moving. Who knows? Maybe I’ll eventually realize my dreams. But I’ll never know if I don’t at least try.

The next day was dripping and slightly overcast. Farah always appreciated when the sun was in absentia, even if temporarily. That morning, all four of the potential robbers faced the bank from a farm cart on the opposite side of the street, watching customers and employees line up for it to open.
